I have a tendency to avoid doing the things I want to, to make sure I get my have-to’s done first. Or I don’t do things I want to do for fear of getting it wrong or looking dumb. What a waste of life, I want to live like FORREST!
During a meditation at a luxury resort in Costa Rica, the objective was to connect to my highest potential self and ‘hear’ what messages will help me now to align with my possibilities for the future.
Because I have done shamanic journeying and meditation for years, my ability to tap into the reservoirs of wisdom from within has been well practised. I can access clear information when I take the time to tap in.
To my surprise, Forrest Gump, yes from the major motion picture starring Tom Hanks, appeared in my vision!
Wearing his classic Bubba Gump Shrimp hat he was running. And 1 sentence:
“I just felt like running.” Was all he said.
Like most wisdom, it is concise and resonates without the need for logical convincing.
So what did this simple sentence mean to me?
Don’t worry about other people. Just do what your body and urging you to do. One might even call this the soul. People will have opinions, pay no mind.
JUST FREAKIN’ DO WHAT MOVES YOU. Don’t think, don’t overly plan, GO. The rest has an uncanny, intelligent way of guiding and informing you of the next steps.
Trust. Surrender. Be.
I have a tendency to avoid doing the things I want to, to make sure I get my have-to’s done first. Or I don’t do things I want to do for fear of getting it wrong or looking dumb.
What a waste of life, I want to live like FORREST!
Here’s why:
1 – Innocence is underrated.
No one wants to seem naive or ignorant. Innocence is too vulnerable for this harsh, cutthroat world. But, what we lose by caging ourselves in protection from this harsh world is our enthusiasm, wonder and presence.
2 – Forrest was so authentic
He didn’t even realize there were people desperately seeking approval from others that they completely lost themselves. Forrest was a master at being because his noisy cognitive mind wasn’t as “advanced” as others In his case, without the noise, he could just be himself.
3 – Follow life’s breadcrumbs.
Forrest didn’t plan for college, to be a war hero or professional ping-pong player, let alone invest in the leading tech company at the time leaving him financially free (the company was some Apple thing His value in life was just in being him and being a good person. He didn’t need his actions to prove his worth, therefore he had no attachment to the outcomes. He showed up 100% present all the time.
4 – Love your Mama.
In this case, Forrest’s mom had done an amazing job raising Forrest to not be ‘different’ and even if he was different he never felt less than. She made things make sense for him and his confidence grew from that foundation. We can all learn from this as a path to self-esteem.
5 – You don’t need to know how to run a boat.
Or anything about shrimp to build a million dollar shrimp company. You start, you invest into your commitment, you keep going and never get let down by temporary setbacks, you stay innocent and keep believing, you persevere until BAM success has found you. Not from nothing, but the cumulation of the micro-actions and daily commitments adding momentum and energy to your goal.
6 – LOVE.
“I may not be a smart man…but I know what Love is.” We do not need to have a PhD to be fulfilled (unless that’s your path). We need love to be fulfilled. We overrate intelligence from the mind and forget that the heart is the core, the pulse in the moments that matter.
7 – Life IS like a box of chocolates.
You never know what you’re gonna get, but you can be present, be you, and love deeply.
That’s all I have to say about that.
