Feminine power without connecting to the source of feminine power doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.  Feminine Power, or what I call Authentic or Connected Power, is the place where we are in tune with ourselves, nature and the others.  Disconnective or reactive power (often referred to as masculine energy) creates power through selfish competition, survival, and no regard for the totality of the planet and its inhabitants.  The point of this article is to show another option for our personal energy that is sustainable and enjoyable.

Let’s take a look at what it means to source from a disconnected space, where the energy source is limited to our own bodies from adrenalin.

Quick overview if you aren’t familiar with adrenalin. This is the chemical released during a fear/stress response from your adrenal glands (behind your ribs, on the kidneys). You may have also have heard of cortisol.  Either way, adrenalin is also for “adrenalin junkies” people who seek high-risk activities for “the rush” wave of adrenalin. We are as a society low-level adrenalin junkies: caffeine, reality tv, Facebook, twitter, constant stimuli, avoiding silence and stillness, but making it to your 6am yoga class because that’s the thing to do.

What is living from Adrenalin?

For the most part, people are using their stress response to increase their productivity in life and work. We think this is the source of energy. This is the place of “just do it”, more pain, more gain, pushing through, engaging in a competition for who can work the most hours and juggle the most activities. 

But this is excitement masquerading as lifeforce. Living this way creates high periods of productivity, but they are always followed by the inevitable crash. That crash leaves us feeling low, disheartened, and guilty about doing nothing. What are the signs and symptoms of using Adrenalin as energy?

      You can go for HOURS with no food or breaks and be very productive, but then you reach a limit at day 2-3 or on Fridays when you just can’t conjure up the energy anymore.

      You feel if you stop for 1 second you will “get behind”

      Fear is behind your motivation.

      You never feel like you “get there”

      You experience analysis paralysis, inability to make decisions

      You get snippy and irritable

      You get headaches, back aches that do not go away with massage or other healing modalities

      You thrive off of extreme deadlines, so you don’t have a second to think or check in with yourself

      Procrastination on what matters, but busyness with to-dos and stuff.

      Lack of self confidence, and Fraud syndrome.

      FOMO Fear Of Missing Out

      You are never really full, self-contented, or peaceful. 

– An inner dialogue of not enough time.

      Worry.  What if______________?  Not good enough, not right, they won’t like it, you’ll get in trouble, it doesn’t work, you’ll lose your job or client or partner.

      High highs, and Low lows.  Somewhat manic living.

– Guilt about self time, self investment, self care. 

      Mistaking excitement for lifeforce.  The feeling of excitement is a rush, by nature it is temporary and should be.  Hence the fear response of fight-flight-freeze. 

There is another way! When we are stressed we cannot access the problem solving state of mind necessary to relieve the stress we are stressed about. We cannot access intuition and imagination. It’s hard to see what’s missing when we’re in this place. But when we are able to shift to living from Inspiration—to a state of connectedness and expansiveness—suddenly what we need becomes as obvious to us as getting a glass of water when we’re thirsty.

What is living from Inspiration?

So what does life look like when you are sourcing from Inspiration?

-Knowing you are enough, you matter, and your life is on purpose.

– Not requiring outside validation to feel on track in life or on a project.

  You operate from a place of “I’m worthy, deserving and good enough now”  and from this place I can create what I put my mind and heart to.

  •     Joy is accessible regularly. When you are in the stress response you don’t break into spontaneous laughter, or sing songs for fun in the car or shower.
  •     Grounded- this means ability to make choices, maintain focus, having a calm nervous system, ability to be physically successful sustainably, and manifest because you are embodied (in your body) and active.
  •     Accessing intuition as your own super CEO.  Your cell phone connection to infinite wisdom is your intuition.  This can prevent many breakdowns, and foresee problems before they even happen.
  •     Prosperity.  Our worthiness is not contingent upon what we do or do not do when we connect to our True Nature.
  •     Inspiration!  The desire from within to complete a task.  An overflowing cup, rather than scraping from the bottom of our will power.

 Being pulled by your visions, rather than pushed by your self-criticisms

Simple steps to Implement Inspiration energy into your Life:

You are Alive

Living things need life sustaining nourishment, and we are living things.

  • water
  • sleep
  • rest and work 
  • food that has nutrition for energy
  • sun
  • connection to other living things

You get the picture.  Doing what lights you up, nourishes you, makes you feel content and alive works your Inspiration muscles so you can apply that state in all areas of life.  Similar to an Olympic sprinter training with weights to add more power when it’s game time. You can train your connection to your Inspired state of being so you can access it when things get stressful.

Meditation Injection

Exercise to connect to your Source of Inspiration:  Time 5min.

     A Meditation injection is medication injected into your busy life.  Red lights, bathroom breaks, elevators, waiting on the phone or in a line, waking up or falling asleep, commercial breaks and so on. Giving yourself an uninterrupted 2-5 minutes is great, but do what you know you will be reliable to do.

  • Recommended: Set a reminder in your phone to remind you that Meditation Injections exist. (we always forget something new while in the midst of our normal routine, it takes many reminders to inject new habits.  Do yourself little favours with phone reminders and sticky notes.)

      Begin to breathe and notice yourself being breathed.   Your natural autonomic nervous system completely and utterly is providing for you 24 hours a day.  Acknowledge this miracle within you. This is the gift of your life in action.

       Feel your feet, feel the sensations warm, cold, tingly, or perhaps numb, vacant.  You can’t get this wrong, just feel and notice.

– Again, feel your breath, notice an inhale and exhale.

– Notice your body running the show called “keeping you alive” effortlessly, and impeccably.

– Notice that it’s all being done for you.

– The earth is spinning and gravity is holding you in place.  You are basically being hugged by the earth’s magnetic core.  

– You might sigh, or you might even tear up with relief and recognition.

Welcome back home- to being you and being connected to life itself.
