It’s not sexy, no, but it is what makes movie stars, athletes, and anyone who decides to become something more than their habitual, average self pretty darn sexy…. the small micro-choices are pretty darn awesome when all added up.

Artists

Athletes

Entrepreneurs

Hollywood Stars (or Bollywood Stars, they are crazy famous too.)

There is a myth that these people are somehow more “motivated” than the average person.

The reality?

They choose. The average movie set starts at 3 or 330am. Olympic Athletes start training at 3/4/5am. CEOs get going as early as 4 am as well to get what needs to be done, before the noise of the day begins. The clamouring of all the busy people going aimlessly fast to nowhere in particular. The truly motivated are not sucked in by being “busy.”

“Motivation is the momentum built up over time from micro-choices.”

You might read the above examples and think, “Oh, They all get up early! I will get up early.” If only it were that simple to try and piece out the successful habits here and there, rather than BEcome who YOU need to be to be YOUR version of success. Then making small steps towards that individualized version of success, NOW, without anyone else telling you what to do.

The typical successful people make choices with their goal in mind. They’re not afraid to be uncomfortable or to make other people uncomfortable for that matter. They don’t need to suffer, mind you, they’re able to choose uncomfortable actions when they could be comfortable; they could sleep in, they could avoid that epic job interview, they could be late to their audition. But, they control what they can, and do what it takes. They are responsible for their life.

A vision pulls them into action. It’s not magical. The same opposing forces for every human are still plaguing “motivated” people; resistance, aches, sleepiness, self-doubt, “what will other people think?” All of these factors are still present. What is different?

Micro-choices.

Everyday.

Morning. Noon. Night.

Who do I need to BE to achieve my highest self?

What do I need to do?

Who do I need to reach out to?

What small things can I do, within my own control, NOW, with where I am and what I have?

There is no BIG thing to getting great at anything.

It truly is the small things. The momentum of continued choices towards the bigger outcome. This is what people mistakenly call “Motivated.”

Motivation is the momentum built up over time from Micro-Choices. The Myth of Motivation is that you need to FEEL the motivation to act. Nope. You make a choice, you act, you begin, you BUILD motivation as a way of being.

It’s been said a million times:

  • Take the first step.
  • Small consistent actions.
  • Slow and steady (Are you seeing a tortoise crossing a finish line in your head too?)
  • Just do it.

Small consistent steps.

It’s not sexy, no, but it is what makes movie stars, athletes, and anyone who decides to become something more than their habitual, average self pretty darn sexy. They are the ones on the top 100 lists, the small micro-choices are pretty darn awesome when all added up.

Here’s the thing. You get to decide. If success to you is a comfort and the simple pleasures of life, embrace that and enjoy!

If you have a fire inside you, an intrinsic sense that you desire a life experience beyond your life now, then you owe it to yourself to get started.

But don’t expect a special person, a big break, an infomercial program to be the super special thing that will magically get you there.

You get YOU there.

Start now.

Do the little thing. Begin the motivation momentum to get you your awesome life.

If you need help getting this going for yourself, reach out, I get you.
